Brain Fodder: Our Man for Iraq?

Brain Fodder: "If a tenth of the reconstruction money currently being siphoned off by Halliburton were given directly to Saddam to use to pay local companies, he could achieve more by using just one-tenth of that for reconstruction and keeping the rest for himself....
"It's even possible Saddam would live long enough to father more sons...who could then continue his dynasty. If not, perhaps he might consider adopting children of some other cruel, despotic, corrupt dictator - Jenna and Barbara come to mind."

Neil at the foot of the Moon

Cannonfire: "So why is Neil Bush -- the president's brother and notorious S&L crook -- hanging out with the even more notorious Reverend Sun Myung Moon, cult leader and self-proclaimed Lord of the Second Advent?"

Just lucky, I guess! Watch for Moon's coming trip to the hapless little island of Vanuatu. Its cultural fabric is already being torn to shreds by the fight over whether to allow him in the country or not (with or without the red-carpet treatment that befits an Emperor).

Texas AIDS Blog: About abstinence

Texas AIDS Blog: About abstinence: "Abstinence as a concept is something of a tricky matter. Just like a condom, abstinence has to be used consistently and correctly. There's no 'King's X' for prom night. There's no free pass just because you were drunk or high. To be abstinent requires the constant decision that says 'no sex under any conditions.' Then there's the question of 'what is sex'? If Bill Clinton, bless his heart, couldn't figure that out, how do we expect kids to do it? "
