RIP, Rosa Parks

Vimala's Closet: "Sometimes Ya Gotta BE the Tsunami...
Sometimes, you look at your life and everything and every one settled in around you, and you look into yourself and you know that you can't maintain the status quo anymore. And you know that your own growth requires movement. The grand shift is upon you. And you know that when you make your move, coastlines will flood, structures will fall, things that were alive will die, and life as you & they know it will end forever. "

A closer look at Hurricane Wilma

Weather Wars?:
"...despite what experts tell us, the technlogy currently exists to actually control the weather -- and specifically, nature's most destructive type of storm: the hurricane itself. And...someone has been using this technology this summer in an undeclared, all-out 'weather war' against the United States... "

Former Secretary of Defense William Cohen first warned us in 1997 of a coming era of "global weather war."

Biking to Siberia

Biking to Siberia
Boondoggle for Peace?

Proposed "Peace King Tunnel"

The above photo on blogger John Gorenfeld's site shows the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's proposed mega-tunnel that would enable tourists to swarm from Siberia to Alaska.

In response to Moon's suggest for eco-consultation before the proposed tunnel is built (in an earthquake zone, I might add), blogger Carey proposes:

1) Can the Reverend spare a million or two every year to support Amtrak, aka The Peace Train...?

2) In light of his hope for "a new era of automobile travel," how does the Reverend feel about recent arguments suggesting we've nearly passed "peak oil," and that fossil fuel-based transport faces a limited future? Could he invest in developing alternate fuels or modes of transport to bring us into this "new era?" This would also cut down on our need to dominate other countries for their resources, = PEACE.

3) Has the Reverend considered a bridge allowing a person to drive from the Bahamas to the United States, as first proposed by the band The Dead Milkmen?

4) Will the Peace King Tunnel-Bridge have bicycle lanes? This is very important. It should also accommodate dogsled teams. (Especially since there is no ground transportation to either end of the Bridge-Tunnel.)

5) How would the construction of pipelines and the World King Bridge-Tunnel affect the majestic whale, closely linked to polar bears? [Rev. Moon subscribes to the ancient Korean myth that human beings are descrnded from bears.]

6) If Moon decides not to expand the use of fossil fuels, perhaps he could build the World Peace King Sailboat Fleet, complemented by the World Peace King Repository of Freely Available Bicycles To Borrow at key destinations? This would cost much less than $15 billion or so for a World Tunnel-Bridge.
